nevadacity
On biking after the rain in Nevada City following a long drought, 2014
for Kassandra Leiva
Steam streams from sunny roadside signposts
Soaked with the sap of long-awaited rain.
The deluge overture concluded,
The soil plays its first notes of green.
The symphony spring sings seems so familiar,
Yet each new rain gives birth to sound anew
Just as the parched earth calls for its conductor,
So I am mute, dear, without you.
