Public Library Branch in Bushwick, Brooklyn, NYC

The design of this 20,000 s.f. public library was based on a series of mushroom-like elements. at the ground level, they are scaled to the size of columns and wrapped in books. as they rise, they taper outward to form more intimate spaces for new modes of learning. The existing brick vernacular and classical language of the neighborhood was meshed with organic forms to create a new architectural expression.
